Community Development Association

CDA's mission is to empower people through targeted programs in areas like education, sports, health, gender equality, career guidance, and policy advocacy. By fostering active community participation, CDA works to create long-lasting and impactful change, enabling individuals and families to lead healthier, more productive lives.

CDA's initiatives include the Community Study and Learning Center, which helps reduce school dropout rates and provides academic support, and the CDA Football Club (in collaboration with Parcham), which empowers young girls through sports. The organization also runs a community library to enhance reading skills and offers mental health support and career guidance programs to foster personal development. In response to the COVID-19 crisis, CDA played a crucial role in providing relief through food distribution, hygiene kits, and sanitary products. With its diverse and inclusive programs, CDA continues to address the specific challenges faced by marginalized communities, working towards building stronger and more resilient neighborhoods.

Project: Community-Based First Responders Program

CDA, in collaboration with a collective of unorganized workers (Jan Haq Sangharsh Samiti), is implementing a program aimed at overcoming healthcare access barriers in marginalized communities. The initiative focuses on training community-based first responders, particularly from sanitation worker groups, to offer basic physical and mental health support. These first responders will be equipped with skills in basic first aid and counseling to provide basic support and referrals in serious cases. By empowering local youth from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, the program not only provides crucial healthcare services but also opens new opportunities for education, employment, and personal growth.

The intervention has two primary components: physical health support, where first responders will manage basic injuries and common illnesses, and mental health support, which includes counseling and facilitating peer networks to bring the community together and resolve common issues collectively. The program aims to create a sustainable cadre of local health responders, fostering community resilience and providing an alternative opportunity for marginalized youth.
