Dalit Sthree Sakthi

Through the establishment of Village Women Collectives in 240 villages, DSS has provided a platform for Dalit women to address their issues from the grassroots to the state level. The organization has empowered Dalit women to better access the benefits under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), access to public distribution systems, secure gas connections, pensions, house sites, and houses. They also work on capacity building of Dalit women elected to panchayat raj bodies to discharge their duties effectively.

DSS has also successfully organized face-to-face interactions between victim-survivors, witnesses, and duty bearers through Round Table Conferences and Legal Clinics at district and state levels. The organization has played a crucial role in ensuring compensation, relief, and rehabilitation for survivors and their families under the SC, ST(PoA) Act, including finding employment for Dalit women. As a member of the SC/ST, IAS/IPS Officers Forum, DSS engages with high-ranking government officials,  commission functionaries, and media representatives through public hearings, round table conferences, and general body meetings to create awareness and sensitisation.

Project with MHI:
In collaboration with MHI, DSS is expanding its efforts to enhance and fortify mental health while promoting the resilience of Dalit/Adivasi women and girls through legal, social, and medical interventions. DSS focuses on training youth and Dalit women, empowering them with Ambedkar's ideology, constitutional values, human rights, and laws to bolster their ability to navigate various rights-based situations.
