Project Ohana
Project Ohana’s vision is to develop short-term residential programs that cater to the unique stressors faced by women leaders including Dalits and Adivasis, and to create a space for addressing mental health and well being within movement-building for social justice. Led by Dalit and Adivasi women leaders and women leaders from other marginalized backgrounds, the initiative endeavours to creatively fill the gap in mental healthcare for women leaders whose mental health is determined by structural factors (such as the violence they face as Dalit and Adivasi women themselves, and as leaders, face with their communities) that traditional mental health services cannot adequately address.
The three-month residential programs will provide healthcare services (physical and mental), capacity-building (i.e. writing workshops), and peer support opportunities for those in residence.
